The TransforMed project seeks to contribute to the sustainable transformation of the Mediterranean agricultural landscapes through the adoption of agroforestry practices. The project will enable large-scale restoration of degraded lands and contribute to the understanding and overcoming of the socioeconomic and sociocultural barriers to the adoption of agroforestry practices.

The MoniTree project pioneers a participatory approach to agroforestry research by engaging farmers as co-developers of tools to monitor and assess the effects of trees on soil and crops. By combining citizen science with action research, it strengthens both scientific understanding and practical application of agroforestry under Mediterranean conditions. The project will enhance farmer capacity to evaluate and optimize tree–crop–soil interactions, supporting climate resilience, sustainable land management, and closer collaboration between research and farming communities.
